The Affordable Care Act has remained at the forefront of discussion across the country for the past several years. The legislation aims to provide more Americans with affordable quality health insurance and curb the growth in health care spending. By now, many politicians, health care officials, business owners, and ordinary citizens have all weighed in on the merits and challenges of the initiative. While many will continue to debate the method of health care reform for the foreseeable future, most agree that change is necessary and change is coming. Health care organizations may have to respond to the changes in a number of ways, and many will have to tackle a variety of corresponding workforce related issues.

The American Hospital Association (AHA) represents nearly 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks, other providers of care and 43,000 individual members across the country. For over 100 years, the AHA has been representing and advocating for their members on legislative and business issues. Through the AHA Signature Due Diligence Process™, the AHA evaluates products or services to identify the best solution to recommend to its members. Given the workforce changes anticipated across the health care field in the coming years, the AHA recently decided to evaluate the outplacement industry with the intent to provide an endorsement.
